Miss Crawford's GCMS Art Class

At GCMS we approach art as a process comprising visual analysis, skill development, and critical thinking. The following structure is for our elementary/middle school art program:

K-5 students have required art once a week for 45 minutes
6th grade students are required to take art for one quarter
7-8th grade students can choose art as an extracurricular

My students learn to take informed risks and are expected to be inventive in making images. Classes emphasize design, skills of seeing and drawing, problem solving, persistence, and personal expression. The study of historical and cultural traditions is an essential part of expanding students' visual awareness.
